I manufacture or import mattresses and sell them on to my client, a wholesaler, who exports them. Do I have to pay a waste management contribution to MRN?

The waste management contribution is not payable for mattresses that will not be sold to consumers in the Netherlands. Do check, however, if an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme applies in the destination country. This is currently the case in Belgium and France, for example. Many countries in the EU and further afield are working on a similar system to stimulate circularity in the processing of old mattresses.
